Looking to elevate your next BBQ or midweek meal? These grilled Rump steaks are simple, satisfying and served with a rich garlic butter that brings out the best in the beef. This recipe delivers bold flavour with minimal fuss – perfect for summer evenings or special occasions.
Method
- Prepare the Grill
Preheat your BBQ or grill to a high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. - Make the Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter gently. Stir in the minced garlic and garlic powder, letting it infuse for a couple of minutes. Once combined and aromatic, remove from the heat and set aside. - Season the Steaks
Pat the Rump steaks dry with paper towel. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly cracked black pepper. - Grill the Steaks
Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side, depending on thickness and your preferred doneness. For medium, aim for an internal temperature of 60°C (140°F) using a meat thermometer. - Finish with Garlic Butter
Once cooked to your liking, transfer the steaks to warm plates or a serving platter. While still hot, brush the steaks generously with the prepared garlic butter. Let them rest for 2–3 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
Serving Suggestions
Pair with grilled vegetables, roasted potatoes, or a crisp green salad. These steaks also work beautifully sliced over a bed of rocket with shaved Parmesan and a balsamic drizzle.
